Ruto mocks critics, Raila allies assure him of 2nd term & dare critics to leave Kenya

Ruto laughed off the claims, mocking his critics who have made it a duty to proclaim that he will be the first president to serve one term in Kenya's history

President William Ruto has fired back at his critics who believe he will be a one-term president, mocking them and exuding confidence.

The Head of State noted that with God on his side, he has little to worry about as naysayers had even prophesied that he will not even win his first term, but were proved wrong.

The President who spoke during a Sunday church service at United Pentecostal Church of Kenya in Dagoretti North, Nairobi, on Sunday, January 12, 2025, added that he is a very proud President of the country.

Kuna watu wanaongea mambo ya one term, two terms, three terms. Nataka niwaambie mimi pale nyuma kuna watu ata hawakufikiria nitakuwa na any term, so Mungu ni nani? Mimi nimefurahi sana kwamba Mungu amenipatia nafasi hii niwe kiongozi wa Kenya, mimi ambaye nilikuwa mtu mdogo sijulikani, familia yangu haijulikani. I am a very proud president of the Republic of Kenya.

He defended his decision to work together with allies of opposition leader Raila Odinga and former President Uhuru Kenyatta in a broad-based government noting that a lot can be achieved in unity.

Na mimi nataka niwaeleze kwamba kuna kazi Mungu amenipatia nifanye Kenya hii na nitafanya. God has given me an opportunity to lead this country and an assignment to transform Kenya and I have every intention to ensure that we transform our nation. Ndio sababu niko tayari kuungana na viongozi wote na kuunganisha wakenya wote ndo tuweze kutimiza mapenzi ya Mungu kwa Kenya hii.

ODM leaders who accompanied the President defended his record, noting that the positive outlook of the economy is as a result of his able leadership and assured him of a second term in office.

Dissatisfied critics free to leave the country – Beatrice Elachi

Dagoretti North Member of Parliament Beatrice Elachi rebuked Ruto’s critics who she accused of disrespecting the Head of State.

She noted that anyone who has lost faith with the President’s leadership and believes Kenya is a bad country is at liberty to leave.

We must respect the president; he is our father. When you go abroad they wonder which country we come from.

Those coming (foreigners) say Kenya is a good country…. but Kenyans are there complaining and not going away. If Kenya is bad why not leave, what are you doing here at a bad place, disappear. If you cannot leave then know this is your country and there is nowhere else you can go.

Ruto will not be a one-term president - MP Atandi

Alego Usonga Member of Parliament Samuel Atandi assured the President of a second term in office, noting that his partnership with Raila is a guarantee of sailing to victory and bagging a second term.

As long as you're with God and you're with Baba you'll never be a one-time president.

He also noted that the economic situation will improve and Kenyans will soon have more money in their pockets.

After a wave of protests that rocked the nation, President Ruto received a much-needed boost by teaming up with Raila Odinga and retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, bringing their allies on board in a broad-based government.
