Deputy President William Ruto has sent tongues wagging after he made a secret Kisumu on Wednesday night.
Accompanied by his wife, the DP attended an invites-only wedding involving two prominent Indian families in the region.
Simba Club was a no go zone except for the few invited guests as police officers maintained a tight security at the venue due to the DP’s presence.
His visit caught many unawares including his handlers with his Press Secretary David Mugonyi denying any knowledge of his itinery.
Ruto made his entry using the Kisumu-Kakamega highway without his usual motorcade, passing through the opposition turf of Kondele into the venue.
Even the Kisumu county leadership was not aware of the high profile guest in the county with Kisumu county Deputy Governor Mathews Owili confirming to a local daily that “I have just heard that he (Ruto) is around, being hosted by the two families, but were are not in the picture”.
In a video footage captured at the event, Ruto reiterated the value of love across different religious affiliations.
“We have come here to celebrate the two youngsters who are in the process of forming their family, which is a unit of socialisation in our society.
My presence here with my wife is to demonstrate that we value the Christian love and recognize the family as the unit of socialization. “Ruto said.
