Disagreement in the National Super Alliance (NASA) surfaced as the coalition held a mega rally in Mombasa to drum up support for Raila Odinga’s swearing in.
NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka launched a scathing attack targeting the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party led by Raila Odinga, reprimanding the party for being too selfish.
Addressing opposition supporters who attended NASA’s people’s assembly rally in Mombasa, the Wiper Party boss made it known that his party was not happy with their ODM counterparts.
In the presence of Odinga, Musyoka pleaded with his ODM coalition partners not to be too selfish to sweep away all parliamentary committee positions, leaving his party empty handed.
"Mimi niko hapa leo na ningependa kuwauliza wenzetu wa ODM wasijinyakulie kila kitu ndio pia Wiper wapate kidogo.” Musyoka said.
(Today I want to request our ODM colleagues not to grab everything so that Wiper party can also get a share)
The division of parliamentary committee slots caused tension in the opposition coalition with member parties accusing ODM of shortchanging them.
It took the intervention of NASA principals to broker truce after they prevailed upon legislators from their respective parties.
The coalition has been facing turbulent times with the scheduled swearing in of Raila Odinga threatening to tear it apart.
However, in the eyes of the public, the NASA principals have put on a united front, dismissing claims of division within the coalition with only 10 days to the big event.
