DP Ruto's supporters protest against Uhuru

Deputy President William Rutos supporters have loudly protested against what they have termed as signs of impending betrayal by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The tension in the Jubilee camp emerged on Thursday evening when President Kenyatta posted photos of public stop overs he had made with Ruto while they were leaving Kenneth Matiba's funeral.

At one point, President Kenyatta warned Ruto's close allies - including Kiambu Governor Ferdinard Waititu, Muranga's Mwangi wa Iria and Nairobi's Mike Sonko - to stop campaigning for 2022 and focus on delivering their campaign promises.

During the funeral service, the Jubilee Leader had also issued a warning calling on anyone who had issues with the peace deal to consult him or NASA Leader Raila Odinga instead of whining about it.

The two messages were not received by Ruto's allies who perceived them as signs of impending betrayal by President Kenyatta against his "loyal" deputy.

A majority of those who commented on President Kenyatta's post warned the head of state to disassociate from Odinga and instead endorse Ruto for 2022.

"Team hustler all the way. You and your raila can talk and think of 2050 and 3000. Sisi team Uliam tuko na 2022 hapa kwa hapa," Bony Kamau stated.

William Koech commented, "This is just damage control but unfortunately the damage was done in muranga. Heshimu William bana. Today we were surprised on how you treated him, you even didn't recognized his presence. We respect raila but ruto too should be respected. If ruto votes didn't count. Then I am confident we lost the election to NASA".
