Suspected terrorists killed in Mombasa
This is not the first time that police have gunned down suspected terrorists in Mombasa County.
In August 2019, officers surrounded Hamza Mohammed rented a one-bedroom house, and ordered neighbours to stay indoors before they stormed in.
Eight police officers raided the home of the suspected terrorist and pumped seven bullets in his head and chest.
Nyali Sub-County police commander Simon Thirikwa said Mohammed, 45, had hurled a hand grenade at the officers before he was gunned down.
Mr Mutharikwa said that officers were lucky the grenade did not detonate. Police later found materials used for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
