In a suit numbered MAB/225/ 2017, the 80-year-old accused, identified as Elder Oko Idam Orim, was arraigned on a one-count of murder.

Orim is said to have bitten the deceased named Nkama Idam to death on the March 22, 2017 in Amuzu Ezeke, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State during a quarrel.
Punch reports that the deceased died two days later in a hospital in the town as a result of the bite.
The charge read, ”that you Oko Idam Orim (m) on the 22nd Day of March 2017 at Amuzu Ezeke Abakaliki in the Abakaliki Magisterial District did gave a human bite to one Nkama Idam (m ) and caused his death and thereby committed an offense punishable under Section 319 (1 )of the Criminal law code cap 33 Vol 1 laws of Ebonyi State of Nigeria 2009.”

Magistrate Nnachi Olughu ruled on the matter, saying that the case was not within the jurisdiction of the court and ordered the remand or the accused, while the case file and other Documents be transferred to the Director of Public Prosecution for further prosecution.
The case was adjourned to the 5th of May 2017 for the report of compliance.
