Sources privy to the governor have hinted that he has identified his senator and Jubilee party aspirant Mike Mbuvi Sonko as a great threat in the august polls.

Sonko and Kidero will be facing off during the august polls, alongside Miguna Miguna as an independent candidate. Former National Assembly speaker Mr Kenneth Marende will also be seeking the mandate if the Nairobi people to lead the city based county.

Miguna Miguna over the weekend presented his 24-year-old running mate. Mr James Gathungu, a former Laikipia University student leader will be the next Deputy Governor of Nairobi County if Miguna wins the poll.

Mike Sonko is yet to pick his running mate. However, on Monday, through a Facebook post, Sonko sought the intervention of his over one million followers to help vet his nine candidates to deputise him.

Earlier, it was agreed that Team Nairobi would support the winner in the Jubilee primaries. It is therefore expected that Bishop Margaret Wanjiru would deputise Sonko, if the earlier agreement holds.
