Two previous requests for bail were also denied due to fears that <a target="_blank" class="editor-link" href="https://www.pulse.com.gh/articles/entertainment/celebrities/police-find-1000-bottles-of-baby-oil-and-lubricants-in-arrested-diddys-home-2024092709363431473">Mr Combs</a> could interfere with witnesses ahead of his trial, scheduled for May 2025. He is currently detained at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn on charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution.

However, US District Judge Arun Subramanian pointed to evidence suggesting attempts by Mr Combs to tamper with witnesses and violate prison regulations.

“The Court finds that the government has shown by clear and convincing evidence that no condition or combination of conditions will reasonably assure the safety of the community,” Judge Subramanian wrote in Wednesday's ruling.

Prosecutors highlighted Mr Combs's alleged misuse of jail communications to influence witnesses and manipulate public opinion. They claimed he coerced others to post online in his favour and even encouraged his children to share a video on social media to sway prospective jurors.

Defence lawyers argued that Mr Combs needs to be released to adequately prepare for his trial, but their pleas were rejected. Earlier, Judge Subramanian ordered prosecutors to destroy 20 pages of notes seized during a search of Mr Combs's jail cell, citing attorney-client privilege. Prosecutors countered, alleging that Mr Combs’s actions, including frequent communications via an inmate messaging app, amounted to obstruction of justice.

Lisa Bloom, representing one of Mr Combs’s accusers, Dawn Richards, alleged that Mr Combs contacted witnesses from prison. “The strong implication there is that he talked her into making statements, perhaps gave her money. We don't know. But that would be witness tampering,” she told BBC’s Newsnight.

Prosecutors indicated that their investigation remains ongoing, leaving room for additional charges. Ms Bloom suggested others may also face charges, stating, “He didn’t do this by himself. He had an operation with others involved.”

Dozens of civil lawsuits accuse Mr Combs of coercion, abuse, blackmail, and assault, with several cases involving underage individuals. Despite offering a $50m bail package that included house arrest and restrictions on visitors, the court rejected the proposal.

“And I said it many years ago. If that is the reason you hate, then you hate me for something else. It's deeper than that. And realising that just make me feel free. That's the lens to which I look at everything. Because I was seeing guys I was saying 'Hello' to, coming out to say, 'F*ck Mr Eazi.' And I was like, 'Bro, you could have called me and say Eazi, I just saw this interview, you shouldn't have said that. This is what I advise you to do.' But it just became a thing of let's all band together. And that's why in my song 'We Dey', I said, 'Twitter fingers steady showing fake love.' Because it's crowd mentality. It's trendy to hate you, and now it's like for clicks.

“There are people making art and nobody is caring about their life whether they jump or sit. It's like they are invisible. Love and hate is the acknowledgment of your existence, I'm even blessed to be able to invoke something.”

As he contemplated how to operate within a field that was wearing him out, he eventually decided to delegate certain tasks to his colleagues to find a renewed sense of purpose.

He made it clear that his choice between the two rappers had nothing to do with his ongoing dispute with Sarkodie, which has recently garnered media attention.

It's worth noting that Sarkodie and M.anifest engaged in a rap battle a few years ago to determine who was the best rapper in Ghana.

It all began when Sarkodie released his track "Bossy," in which he declared himself the greatest rapper. M.anifest disagreed and responded with his song "god MC," which contained lyrics that questioned Sarkodie's claim.

Sarkodie responded with another song, "Kanta," which challenged M.anifest's rap supremacy as well as his fashion sense.

Both Sarkodie and M.anifest have been recognized as exceptional rappers, accumulating numerous accolades and achieving significant success in the Ghanaian and African rap music scenes.

Reggae-Dancehall artiste Samini has expressed his opinion that M.anifest is a superior rapper to Sarkodie.

Referencing Hip Hop icons like 2pac, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G, The Fugees, LL Cool J and the Wu-Tang Clan to name a few, M.anifest cleverly weaves this ode to a genre that he himself has come to contribute significantly to.

A certified wordsmith, his skill allows him to craft a worthy tribute to Hip Hop’s enduring legacy as it celebrates 50 years.

From the genre’s origins on Sedgwick Avenue to the influence it’s had in many parts of the world, spurring genres like Hip Life (Ghana), there’s no patch of Hip Hop uncovered by the rapper affectionately called ‘the god MC’ by his fans, particularly when viewed through the lens of his lived experience.

Whether tipping his hat to Obrafour's classic album "Pae Mu Ka", or legendary Hip Hop albums like Kanye West's "College Dropout" and Jay-Z's "The Blueprint", he poignantly comments on a culture that has left an indelible mark from marginalized beginnings.

The current torchbearers are of course not left out of the MikeMillzOn’Em produced track. J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, A-Reece, Black Sherif, and Sampa The Great get honorable mentions as boundary pushers of the genre, emphatically suggesting that Hip Hop remains a vibrant and relevant force in contemporary music and perhaps in safe hands.

M.anifest's commemoration of the 50th anniversary has gone beyond his music. This year, he has actively engaged in discussions in academia, with an appearance at Howard University as a special guest, where he shared his insights on Hip Hop's evolution from an African perspective over the past five decades.

In July 2023, he was in New York at Global Cognac giant Hennessy’s invitation, joining a roster of world-renowned rappers to celebrate one of Hip Hop's greats, Nas.
