The Tanzanian government has been forced to explain the reason why Diamond Platnumz was temporarily blocked from leaving the country, as he planned to travel to Mayotte Island.

According to Tanzania’s Baraza la Sanaa Taifa (BASATA), they are enforcing a law that requires all artists who want to travel to perform outside their country to get special permits from BASATA.

BASATA Chief Executive Godfrey Mngereza, said the artistes are also expected to report to the commission as soon as they are back in the country.

“Utaratibu wa msanii kuwa na kibali anapoenda nje, yaani kutambua wapi anaelekea kikazi si mpya. Upo katika kanuni toka awali. Lengo ni kumhakikisha ulinzi wa haki na usalama wake pale kutakapotokea suala lisilo rafiki. Pia, kumuaga kwa kukabidhi bendera na mapokezi pindi anaporudi ikibidi,” said Mr. Godfrey.

He added that BASATA chose to start with Diamond so that it can be a lesson to all other artistes who have been going against the directive.

Diamond Platnumz was stopped by BASATA from travelling out of Tanzania as he waited to board his plane at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere International Airport, for a show in Mayotte Island.

This however, is not the first time the Eneka hit maker has found himself at loggerheads with BASATA, the first instance being when he was arrested and ordered to give a public apology when he shared ratchet videos of himself with different women in bed.
