Two years after Evelyn Wambui was axed from Citizen TV, she has launched a new show called

According to the show’s description, “The Human Interest is a weekly podcast that features stories about people. Why they do what they do and about life. Successes, losses, challenges and lessons. It will feature scripted stories, narrations and/or a mix of both. Follow the journey of ordinary people as they seek life's ultimate purpose - happiness.”

Commenting on her new venture, Evelyn tweeted “Best thing I discovered this year? #PODCASTS! The perfect #storytelling platform! And who I'm I to pass on an opportunity to tell stories on such a diverse, limitless platform! I'm here!”

Evelyn Wambui, though one of the biggest talents at Citizen, unfortunately, faced the axe during the infamous Citizen retrenchment of 2016.

The group managing director Wachira Waruru broke the unfortunate news in a memo sent to their employees and it read “In the past two years we have witnessed various developments within the broadcasting industry that have adversely affected our business environment.

"As a result, the company is left with no choice but to re-organise its operations. That includes rationalization of the various departments.

"Unfortunately and regrettably, the action will result in the reduction of our workforce through job redundancies.”

Lucky for Evelyn, she soon landed a job as the Regional Media and Communications Specialist at Plan International, Region of Eastern and Southern Africa (RESA).
