Fally Ipupa shuts down Nairobi with 4 hours electrifying Performance (Photos)

The King of Rhumba all the way from Congo Fally Ipupa thrilled Nairobians to a fun filled night on Saturday at Uhuru Gardens, in his much anticipated Tokoos Tour with an almost four hours performance, that left revelers yearning for more.

Branded as The King of Rhumba Fally, is one of the biggest song writers and singers in Congo and Kenya welcomed him with open arms.

Rhumba and Lingala lovers started to stream into the venue of the event at 6pm. This was an opportunity for Rhumba fans to have a one on one connection with the Fally who was the main act for the night.

The show was curtain raised by a number of Kenyan artists among them; Les Wanyika, James and the Gogosimo Band who prepared the stage for the main act of the night.

Fally’s Band carried the night with their extra ordinary skills when it comes to handling their instruments. The band kept Fally Ipupa on track with their awesome skills making him perform for more than three hours nonstop and the fans left satisfied.

What stood out during the concert was when Fally introduced General Defao as the surprise act of the night.

Les Wanyika

Les Wanyika, one of the oldest Bands in Kenya also gave a memorable performance at the Concert reminiscing the good old days when Music was Music.

Les Wanyika who started off in 1978 were a prominent band with Tanzanian and Kenyan members that were based in Kenya. It was formed in 1978 when guitarist Omar Shabani, bassist Tom Malanga and two other members left Simba Wanyika.

They performed songs like Sina Makosa, Safari Ya Samburu, Safari Sio Kifo, Afro among others

Gogosimo Band

Gogosimo Band who started off their musical journey back in 2002 stole the show with their unique moves and ability to utilize the stage fully. If it was not the “Tokoos Tour”, Gogosimo Band performance would have been enough to take care of the night’s entertainment. They were on fire.

They performed some of their songs ranging from; Kibwebwe, Ngoma, Uwe Wangu, Toka Leo, Malaika wangu, Mwerevu and their latest release Sama Sama among others.

The Gogosimo Band graced the stage with one of the best dancers in East and central Africa Kanda King.

General Defao

Nairobi-based Congolese musician and Rhumba Maestro General Defao graced the Tokoos Tour as a surprise guest. He perfomed with Fally a number of songs hence terming him as the best artiste in Africa at the Moment.

The show was hosted by Radio Citizen’s Uncle Fred Obachi Machoka.

Fally Ipupa

Fally who was on a tour in Kenya to promote his 4th Album dubbed “Tokoos Nouvel” which was released late last year, gave a memorable perfomance that left fans yearning for more.

Branded King of Rhumba, Fally enjoys a unique genre of music and he is always making efforts to ensure his style gets deeply rooted in the Congolese rhumba, mainstream.

He performed songs like, Ecole, Eloko Yo, Juste Une Danse, Nidja, Original, service, Posa, among others.

Aces and Light, were the official event managers who made sure Rhumba lovers get the chance to enjoy electrifying performance from Fally Ipupa and other acts.
