Capital Group Limited which owns Capital FM has lost its Managing Director Somoina Kimojino to Homeboyz Radio. Somoina has moved to Homeboyz Radio (HBR) where she will serve in the role of Managing Director.
In her new role, Somoina is ‘tasked with doubling the listenership of Homeboyz Radio amongst Kenya’s millennials, drive the station’s events business, build brand partnerships and deliver significant profitability for the business.’
“Somoina is one of the most respected executives in the media industry in the region, and she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and networks in the radio and events business. We are excited about her joining the business to take Homeboyz Radio to leadership in Kenya and the region,” said Myke Rabar, HBR’s board chairman.
Accepting her new role, Kimojino said, “I am excited to take Homeboyz Radio to the next level. I am focused on making it the leading truly integrated next-generation radio, online and event business in Africa. We will deliver a new and exciting platform for our listeners and deliver information and entertainment that truly transforms their lives.”
Somoina’s work at Capital
Before her exit, Somoina Kimojino had been at Capital FM for 15 years. Within those years she served as a Director of Programmes and as a Managing Director following the exit of Cyrus Kamau.
She is also credited as a driving force behind the success of Koroga Festival.
Following her appointment as the Capital FM MD, Capital Group Board Director, Mary-Ann Musangi praised Somoina by saying, “She is credited for steering the Koroga dream to what it is today. Somoina brings to this position a wealth of experience in planning, execution, stakeholder engagement and in creating valuable partnerships.
