Mombasa-based chef Maliha Mohammed has broken the Guinness World Record for cooking for the longest hours.

36 year-old Maliha broke the record after cooking for 75 straight hours at the Kenya Bay Beach Resort in Mombasa. The record was previously held by Rickey Lumpkin a US-based chef in 2018, with a record of 68 hours, 30 minutes and 1 second.

In preparation for the world competition, the self-taught chef prepared a list of 400 local and international cuisines for the competition.

The food she prepared will be distributed to charity homes as part of her initiative to raise awareness and to feed the less fortunate in Mombasa County.

She first made her attempt at breaking the world record in May this year but she only managed to cook for 36 hours non-stop. In July, the mother of two cooked 200 meals for 54 hours before going for the final competition that saw her break the World Record.

Ms Maliha Mohammed was supervised by officials from the Guinness World Record.
