Former Citizen TV news Anchor Kirigo Ng’arua was a darling to many during her 8 years on TV and her unexpected exit for Royal Media Services was received with mixed reactions.
Many did not anticipate that Kirigo Ng’arua, the Charming news anchor could be among the lot that was fired at Citizen.
Kirigo reveals that she received the news of her sacking with shock as she never imagined that she could be fired from the TV station at that time.
According to he, she knew that some people would be laid off but she never pictured herself in that shoe.
“I was in the office, I was actually preparing for the 1.00pm news. It was around 12.30pm, and I was literally the second person on the list to be called in. I was preparing to go on air with the 1PM news, but then the bosses asked me not to. My lay-off came as a bit of a shock to me as I did not see myself leaving Citizen TV any time soon. Well, I knew that some people would be laid off but I did not give it much thought as I was focused on making myself better in my job,” said Kirigo

The unexpected unfolding of events forced the media personality to travel abroad to spend some time with her relatives.
"What I actually dreaded came to be a reality. In that shock, I wasn’t sure how to react. But there was no going back for me. I had to move forward. I have some of my relatives abroad and they invited me over to spend some time with them and I considered it a way for me to take my mind off things,” Said Kirigo.
The hard times away from the TV screen pushed Kirigo to start her own online show dubbed The Girls Table.
“Yes, my show is currently up and running and I have shot four episodes already. It is basically an online show that mostly targets women and women empowerment. I decided to do an online show as everything is moving digital and the reach is bigger and further.” Added Kirigo

Kirigo’s journey in the media Industry started at Hot 96 as a radio presenter after clearing campus before moving to Citizen TV.
