Former Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru on Tuesday clinched the Jubilee ticket for the Kirinyaga Gubernatorial race.

The battle embarked with Ms. Waiguru contesting against the incumbent Governor Joseph Ndathi, Kirinyaga Central MP Gachoki Gitari and former KRA boss Eliud Wanjau, who all eyed the Jubilee ticket.

However, the former CS won hands down with a whopping 100,632 votes after heavy campaigning.

Needless to say that campaigns are extremely expensive hence the question, who supported Waiguru financially during the intense campaigns?

It has now emerged that a multimillion Kirinyaga Women Representative aspirant identified as Purity Wangui Ngirichi was the person behind the choppers and vehicles that flooded Waiguru’s campaign trail.

Ms. Wangui is married to a Kirinyaga tycoon, Andrew Ngirici - the son to Kenya’s longest-serving Directorate of Security Intelligence (‘Special Branch’) - now called the National Intelligence Service, NIS.

The first-timer in politics has been hailed for the development projects she has initiated in the County, including building schools, improving health services among others.

She has a branded chopper and state-of-the-art vehicles which she utilizes during political rallies.

An in-depth look at her profile, Plive.co.ke discovered that in 2011 Wangui was arraigned in an Embu court for mishandling her loaded automatic pistol while being drunk in a bar at Embu Town.

She was found being in possession of a semi-automatic pistol Parjo Taurus loaded with 12 bullets while drunk and behaving in a disorderly manner.

However, the wealthy businesswoman denied the allegations and was released on Sh30, 000 bond.

Wangui won the Jubilee ticket and has vowed to unseat incumbent Winnie Karimi Njuguna.

She has accompanied Waiguru in her campaign around the County.
