137 New cases of Covid-19 confirmed as total hits 3594

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe has confirmed 137 new cases of Covid-19 bringing the total number of infections to 3,594.

The new infections are out of 3,167 samples tested in the last 24 hours.

"We have 137 people who tested positive from a sample of 3,167. The overall disease burden in the country now stands at 3,594 from 115,336 number of samples tested so far," said the Health CS.

Kagwe announced that Nyeri still remains with 9 patients of Covid-19 as he called on Nyeri residents to work with the County government to ensure, the number does not rise.

3 of the nine cases in Nyeri are healthcare workers who tested positive for Covid-19 at Othaya Hospital. They all contracted the disease in the course of their duties.
