A building which was being demolished collapsed and killed two people on the spot.
Reports indicated that the two were demolishing the wall of a house when the accident occurred in Kakamega, Malava sub-county.
Survivors who were left to tell the tale said that the two were pushing a section of the wall from outside the house when it caved in and buried then the rubble.
Bodies buried inside
One of the workers who was on sight said: “They might not have anticipated that the wall would fall almost immediately, it must have come as a surprise before they thought of moving away."
He added: "I had invited them to assist me to bring down the wall and while we were inside the house, they decided to push it from outside, we just saw the wall collapse, unfortunately, the two were not spared.”
Careful demolitions
Locals joined the workers who survived the ordeal in retrieving the bodies of the deceased men.
Commenting on the incident, area chief Simon Aswani said the incident could have been avoided if the victims were more careful while demolishing the wall.
Mr Aswani called on the young men who sought work in construction sites to be more careful when doing such jobs to avoid accidents.
The bodies were taken to Malava sub-county hospital mortuary.
