It has now emerged that the sudden death of Churchill Show comedian, Emmanuel Makori alias Ayeiya, was a double tragedy for the family.

According to the family members Ayeiya died days after his grandmother, who is yet to be buried, also passed on.

In a report by the Nation, Makori’s grandmother, Ms Maryrose Nyambane, died on Sunday after battling throat cancer for a long time.

Kins had gathered at Nyansiongo, Nyamira County while Ayeiya’s mother-  Josephine Njoki - travelled to Nairobi on Thursday to pick her children for the funeral.

Makori’s uncle divulged that Ayeiya’s father received a phone call from a stranger urging him to travel to Nairobi for what they termed as an emergency.

“He insisted for a long time to know what the emergency was and when he declined to travel, they informed him that his son had been involved in an accident,” Nyambane noted.

Ayeiya’s aunt Judith Kemunto mentioned that her nephew was about to start producing his own TV programmes, which was the reason for his break from the Show.

The celebrated comedian died in a grisly accident along Magadi road, near Catholic University of East Africa after the car he was in hit an electricity post.

According to reports, he was also in the company of fellow comedian Paul wa Kimani and popular actor Maina Olwenya.

The two sustained injures and were rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital.
