Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i has announced the roll out of a phase two operation had commenced.
Speaking at 14 riverside drive where the attack happened on Tuesday, CS Matiang'i said that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations would probe the crime scene in the phase two.
According to the Interior CS, phase two of the operation would involve gathering of evidence and dusting the crime scene in order to pursue any person who was involved in the attack.
Investigations at Dusit complex
"The operation has come to an end in phase 1. Phase 2 is handling the criminal investigation. This still remains a crime scene, the area will still be cordoned off," the interior CS stated.
CS Matiang'i also commended the security forces for responding fast and helping to evacuate civilians who were caught up in the Dusit complex.
He also reiterated President Kenyatta's message on dealing ruthlessly with anyone who assisted the assailants in any manner.
Be more vigilant
Kenyans were also called upon by the Interior CS to be more vigilant and report to the security forces any suspicious activities and people they come across.
The presser comes just a few hours after President Kenyatta addressed the country where he condemned the attack and assured the nation that his government would get to the bottom of the attack.
"In the coming days and weeks, we shall continue the never-ending work of strengthening our systems," President Kenyatta said.
"From the means available to the security services, and judicial arms, we will continue taking every step to making our nation inhospitable to terrorist groups and network," he added.
