Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has sent a firm warning to President Uhuru Kenyatta as their ugly war of words took a new twist.
The governor, who is known for being a strong critic of the Jubilee government, on Saturday stated that he would not stand to be intimidated by the President who has on several occasions blocked him from attending state functions in Mombasa County.
“I will not give up on attending state functions in Mombasa, Uhuru can bar me from attending events but he cannot shut my mouth," said Joho during the launch of NASA’s campaign at Bukhungu stadium,Kakamega.
Joho also asked the supporters to turn out in large numbers during the August 8 elections so as to cote out the Jubilee government.
"I call on each one of us to work together and vote out Uhuru and Ruto to end their looting and the suffering of Kenyans.
He vowed to ensure that there will be no room for vote rigging and urged the supporters to be at the forefront of spreading the NASA agenda.
Joho and Uhuru have been at loggerheads for the past few months with the former being barred from attending functions presided over by the Head of State in his county.
The recent case being last Wednesday where the governor was blocked by GSU officers from attending the SGR launch at Miritini station.
Uhuru challenged him to concentrate on justifying his re-election to residents whereas Joho demanded that he accounts for the extra Sh100 billion for the Standard Gauge Railway before the launch.
