Eric Kiraithe has been replaced as Government Spokesman and is set to be replaced by former KDF spokesman Colonel (rtd) Cyrus Oguna.
It was not immediately clear why Kiraithe was replaced from the position he has held for three years.
He previously served as the Police spokesman before he was transferred to to the Kenya Airports Authority where he served as General Manager for Security Services.
Colonel Oguna is known for his eloquence in the initial days of the Operation Linda Nichi when Kenya forces entered Somalia in 2011.
KDF was later incorporated into the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amsiom) which also meant communication would not be handled by KDF through Oguna.
The retired colonel joins a long list of military and intelligence servicemen who have recently been given strategic jobs in President Uhuru Kenyatta's administration.
