The Kenyatta family is known for its huge tracts of land and vast business interests, however, many may not be aware that they have strategic investments in the hospitality industry.

Through the Heritage Group of Hotels, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family operates seven luxury hotels.

The company was previously run by renowned hotelier Mohamed Hersi who left in 2017.

The business is now in the hands of Uhuru’s younger brother Muhoho.

1. Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf Resort

A favourite for political retreats, the establishment is located in Naivasha and also includes an 18-hole golf course.

A night at the lavish rooms will set you back between Sh30,000 and Sh150,000 depending on its specifications.

2. Kipungani Explorer

It comprises of 13 luxurious bands built in the tropical island of Lamu. The cheapest room here goes for Sh115,000.

3. Mara Explorer

A favourite for bush adventurists, Mara explorer is located in magnificent Maasai Mara.

A night in one of their luxury tents costs around Sh60,000.

4. Samburu Interpids Luxury Tented Camp

Established in the heart of Samburuland, the secluded hotel serves high-end guests who part with an average of Sh50,000 for a single night.

5. Mara Interpids Luxury Tented Camp

It is located in the Maasai Mara with rates averaging Sh50, 000 per night for a standard night.

6. Voyager Ziwani

It is located in the Tsavo West with rooms averaging Sh20,000 a night.

7. Voyager Beach Resort

The beautiful resort in located in Nyali, Mombasa. Rates vary between Sh15,000 and Sh40,000 based on the season and the room type.
