IG Boinnet starts wearing blue police uniform ahead of countrywide roll out [Photos]

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinet has started wearing the new police uniforms launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta in September.

Photos of the IG clad in the blue uniform were posted by the official Twitter handle of the National Police Service (NPS).

The regalia is being supplied by the National Police Service and is expected to be rolled out to the entire service by December 12 when Kenyans will mark Jamhuri Day.

An officer aware of the process had earlier told the media that the NYS was engaged in a last-minute effort to beat the Jamhuri Day deadline.

"They are burning the midnight oil to beat the deadline of distributing the uniforms to officers ahead of the launch on Jamhuri Day," an officer aware of the plans told The Standard.

The uniform has been produced even as Kenyan netizens complained over what they termed as ugliness of the blue costumes.
