National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) on Monday morning commenced a demolition operation in Nairobi’s, Kileleshwa area.
The early morning operation saw the Shell petrol station and Java House restaurant brought down under the watch of police officers, who were deployed to ensure the activities continue undisrupted.
Vacation notice
Emerging reports indicate that the buildings were flattened as they were on riparian land (terrain that is adjacent to rivers and streams and is subject to periodic or occasional flooding).
The owners of the property were reportedly given a six-month notice to vacate.
