Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore on Wednesday night threw shade at Classic 105 presenter Maina Kageni during an exclusive interview on Jeff Koinange Live (JKL).
Collymore jokingly blasted Maina for not visiting him while undergoing treatment in London despite a promise he made.
“Tell Maina if he is watching this, thanks for not visiting me. In December Maina said I am going to come and visit you, bro. He never turned up,” Bob told Jeff Koinange when Maina sent a tweet during the show.
The Safaricom boss went on to divulge that the Classic 105 show host had also promised to call him on Tuesday morning, days after getting back from London but again he (Maina) never kept his word.
“He told me that he was going to call me tomorrow morning that is yesterday. So I skipped the gym but the guy never did.
"So when you call, Maina, I am not answering so do not bother," Collymore said on a light note.
Cancer diagnosis
During the interview, the first he has had after he was diagnosed with a rare blood cancer that saw him stay out of the biggest Telecommunication Company for a period of 9 months 2 weeks, Bob expressed his gratitude to all Kenyans who sent him encouraging messages while undergoing treatment.
He mentioned several people who checked up on him including Airtel CEO, Co-operative Bank’s Gideon Muriuki, KCB’s Joshua Oigara, Radio Queen Caroline Mutoko, politicians and Safaricom’s employees and customers.
"There were so many people behind me and praying for me and I thought how the heck can I just die and let all these people down. My heartfelt thank you for all the people of Kenya,” he said.
Throughout the interview, he praised his wife Wambui Kanuri for being with him during the intense treatment process.
