A number of flights were on Monday morning directed away from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to Mombasa's Moi international Airport.
Passengers who were travelling on some Kenya Airways flights highlighted the issue on social media wondering why the changes had been made to their travel routes.
A statement from KQ explained that the measure had been taken due to safety concerns.
"We would like to inform our valued customers of a disruption to our flight operations this morning from 7 am - 9:30 am. This was due the foggy conditions that surrounded JKIA.
"This disruption has resulted in delays on some of our scheduled flights for today, and we advise all our customers to check with our Contact Centre on +254 (0)20 3274747 for updated information for departing flights prior to coming to the airport," the statement read in part.
KQ troubles
The national carrier has been experiencing a number hitches with their planes as well as tough financial times at the company.
A number of stowaways have also been reported with the most drastic incident being the case of a stowaway's body which dropped from a London-bound KQ plane after being frozen solid.
