Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has finally broken his silence over the 2022 succession politics.

The KANU Chairman has in the recent past been rumoured to eye President Uhuru Kenyatta's seat, a notion that has put him on a direct collision course with Deputy President Wiliiam Ruto who has already declared his intention to ascend to the highest seat in the land.

However on Monday morning, Moi, a son to Kenya's second President Daniel arap Moi, took to Twitter to distance himself from the 2022 succession politics and instead said he was focused on development matters that will help Kenyans.

Gideon is among the dignitaries attending the launch of the Obama Foundation in Kogelo presided over by former US President Barack Obama.

"The 2022 agenda is Not a matter of discussion or focus right now. In stead I have geared my energy towards supporting the President’s Big Four agendas which I believe will translate positively to all facets of the Kenyan society. To me this, and addressing insecurity issues, is of the utmost importance. The 2022 succession politics is an emotive issue which excites the country and there has been misinformation in the media, both social and mainstream, as regards my candidature," Gideon tweeted.

He added that the succession politics should take a back burner for now and urged the media to be cautious with their reports and always seek clarification.
