Major changes in leadership of Kenya Police

Inspector General Joseph Boinnet has made major leadership changes in the structure of the Kenya Police Service.

Several senior officers have either been promoted or transferred to new work stations.

Among those affected is Douglas Kirocho Kanja who has served as the Deputy Commandant of the General Service Unit (GSU).

Kanja will now take over as the Commandant while Mohamed Omar Bashane will deputize him.

Bashane has previously served as head of the Presidential Escort Unit.

Josephat Mbuthia Kirimi, who has headed the elite Recce squad, will now serve as the commandant of Presidential Escort Unit.

Others affected include Central regional commander  Francis Munyambu Musembi who has been transferred to Rift Valley in the same capacity.

Musembi has changed places with Solomon Mutua Makau who will move from Central to the Rift Valley.
