CS Rashid Echesa accused of engaging in fist fight with ODM MP

Sports CS Rashid Echesa’s bad blood with ODM Leader Raila Odinga is reported to have on Monday escalated after the minister was linked to a fist fight pitting him against Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi.

The argument, which took place at Kisumu Airport's VIP lounge, was reportedly started off by Atandi who confronted Echesa for “disrespecting Raila”.

The youthful MP reportedly infuriated the Sports CS after he told him to go to school before attacking Odinga “who is a statesman”.

The Nation quoted its sources reporting that Echesa engaged in a fist fight with Atandi before their bodyguards separated them.

Denial

Both the CS and the MP, however, denied that they had exchanged blows, only indicating that they had a heated verbal confrontation.

Echesa, who is a trained boxer, said that such a fight would have been reported to the police.

Atandi, on his part denied being in a fight but told a local daily that he had held Echesa by his neck tie, an incident he said was witnessed by the Airport police.

The dramatic incident came a few days after the Sports CS accused Odinga of engineering his removal from the Cabinet.
