Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho has dismissed claims of a plot to assassinate Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking on Monday at Shauri Moyo AP camp where he launched a borehole, the PS termed the claims as a creation of the media.
He pointed out that no formal complaint had been made about the alleged plot to assassinate DP Ruto.
”I hear assassinations claims… Who has complained? I am yet to hear someone complain. That’s utter nonsense and unfounded claims. We should stop creating things that don’t exist,” PS Kibicho said.
Filed case
The Interior PS further stated that the claims are baseless and should not be dominating headlines since no one has filed a case on the same.
"It’s unfortunate we are occupied by media talking about imaginations. We must be a country led by logic and truths, it’s unfortunate that people make conclusions even before investigations. Political interference should not be accepted," Mr Kibicho stated.
“We should stop creating things that don’t exist. The moment we have a formal claim we deal with it in accordance with the law. We will not as a ministry be stopped from doing our work,” he added.
Arrests made
His remarks came a day after Trade Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya spoke out against the claims which he said are part of a witch-hunt by his political detractors.
Mr Munya together with his ICT colleague Joe Mucheru and Health CS Sicily Kariuki appeared before the DCI to answer about meetings they held at Lamada hotel.
The DCI arrested former State House digital director Dennis Itumbi over links to the Deputy President William Ruto "murder" letter.
