Four bodyguards attached to Machakos First lady Lillian Nganga were on Tuesday killed in a nasty accident.

The morning incident happened at Lukenya along the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway.

Emerging reports indicate that the four were escorting Ms Nganga, Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua's wife, when the accident happened.

The four included two Machakos AP officers and two county askaris.

Confirming the reports, Athi River OCPD Sharmah Wario divulged that their county car, a Nissan Tiida, collided head-on with a Toyota Prado.

The four died on the spot while the driver of the prado was rushed to Mater Hospital in critical condition.

The bodyguard were headed to Nairobi after escorting Nganga to her residence at 2am.

Mr Wario warned drivers to be careful when approaching Lukenya area.

"So many lives have been lost in this area through accidents. I want to caution drivers as they approach this stretch, he noted.

While sending condolences to the family of the deceased, Mr Mutua mentioned: "I Pass my heartfelt condolence to the families and friends of officers attached to my officevwho passed away while heading to their homes after duty".
