Popular Nairobi matatu sacco Super Metro has explained how its free rides will work after commuters demand for clarification.
Super Metro Chairman Nelson Mwangi joined commuters in one of the buses which started its free rides in Ngong on Monday, November 8.
“We had promised our clients that for this period we are celebrating you are the first ones to get the free ride here in Ngong, continue supporting us and we will continue giving quality service,” he said.
After the video was shared on social media, many commuters sent messages asking for more details about the free rides.
"We have received multiple texts via inbox on today's free ride list. As we had stated in our previous post, which was a video as our Chairman Mr Nelson Mwangi was giving out the rides, this time we did it differently.
“We gave the free rides during the morning rush hour. Kindly note that our free rides were not for all our fleet but some. We thank you all for your unconditional support,” read part of the statement.
New buses
The Sacco, in an announcement on social media on Thursday November 4, 2021 said that it had acquired an additional 50 brand new buses from Isuzu East Africa.
The key advantage of the leasing arrangement is that PSV operators do not need to pay a deposit to receive a vehicle into their fleets.
This is a cost-effective approach for PSV Saccos to get new cars and then pay monthly or quarterly payments against the vehicle's cost as it generates cash for them.
