Why Uhuru will hold ceremony for Museveni in Mombasa

President Uhuru Kenyatta will receive and host a State Ceremony for his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni at State House Mombasa on Wednesday.

The State ceremony will be held in honor of the Ugandan Head of State who will be Kenya for a two-day State visit.

State House confirmed that President Kenyatta will receive President Museveni at the Moi International Airport in Mombasa before preceding to State House Mombasa.

Mombasa port tour

A statement sent to newsrooms said that the two leaders will hold bilateral talks during Museveni's visit in the country.

"The two leaders will proceed to State House, Mombasa, where they will lead bilateral talks with their respective delegations before conducting a joint press briefing,” said Kanze Dena.

President Museveni will also tour the Mombasa port during his two-day State visit in Kenya.

Diplomatic row

The visit comes amid tensions between Uganda and Rwanda who are involved in a diplomatic row.

Rwanda accuses Uganda of arresting Rwandans, disrupting regional trade and of providing support and space to groups Kigali considers enemies. 

But Uganda has denied all the allegations. Recently, Rwanda briefly closed its border with Uganda leading to massive losses for businesses.
