Two Kenyan Premier League teams in Kariobangi Sharks and Sony Sugar won their Gotv quarterfinal matches on Saturday to book slots in the tourney’s semis.
On Sunday, defending champions Tusker will take to the pitch against National Super League outfit Vihiga United as from 1:00pm at Nyayo National Stadium, about two hours before AFC Leopards lock horns with Wazito FC at the same venue.
Sharks ran riot on lower league side Eldoret Youth with Masoud Juma (brace), Sanneh Ebrimah, Duke Abuya, and Sven Yidah being on target.
At Nyayo Stadium, Amos Asembeka scored twice from the spot to add onto an early goal by Yemi Mwana for Sony Sugar while Baron Oketch pulled one back for Bandari in the 3-1 scoreline.
All eyes will now be watching how Ingwe and Tusker will do their part today (Sunday) in search of the remaining slots.
Wazito head coach Frank Ouna seems to be ready for any outcome as illustrated in his statement ahead of the battle.
“The odds are stuck against us. We do not have the depth of international and experienced players like AFC, they have a huge sponsorship which makes them more comfortable and also an experienced coach who has won the cup before,” he told the club’s official website.
