I am only surviving on samosas – Anne Ngirita speaks from prison

Anne Ngirita, a key suspected beneficiary of over Sh60 million from the National Youth Service has decried that she is starving in Lang’ata Women’s Prison in Nairobi, where she was booked after her arrest last week.

Ms Ngirita, who hit headlines for the unexpected display of ‘Daddy Ngirita’ tattoo in court on Tuesday, told Nation that she was only surviving on samosas a friend bought her nearly a week ago.

“How can we follow these proceedings when we are hungry? We are starving," she told .

Mrs Ngirita raised the alarm when she appeared for the pre-trial conference on Wednesday in court, hours after the High Court judge Douglas Ogot quashed a request by her lawyer Cliff Ombeta to have the 40 suspects released on bond.

'Daddy Ngirita' Tattoo

On Tuesday, Anne Ngirita displayed a rather controversial message to the court at the time she was awaiting a verdict on her application to have her released on bond.

Ngirita displayed a tattoo on her left hand as she was waiting for the delivery of the ruling of her case.

The tattoo reads: “Daddy Ngirita.
