"I am concerned for her" Dennis Okari says about daughter with Betty Kyallo

Okari first comment on painful divorce

Celebrated journalist Dennis Okari has finally broken silence on the highly publicised relationship he had with Betty Kyallo.

Okari, who has recently been hired as a news anchor at NTV, said that he was not ready to speak about his love life and urged people to respect the privacy of the child she and Betty bore during their short-lived relationship.

During an interview with Nairobi News, he promised to come public about his love life "very soon".

He added that as a father, he was concerned about the publicity that his daughter attracted through no fault of her own.

“My daughter does not deserve the kind of publicity she has been getting, she deserves to grow up quietly and no one including myself as her father should interfere with her rights to privacy," Okari stated.

His daughter, Ivanna, has often been the subject of public attention as a result of the attention generated by her mother - Betty.

During a past interview, the KTN anchor accused her ex-husband of showing little concern for her daughter, even accusing Okari of neglecting his fatherly duties.

"I was comfortable with him being part of our daughter’s life but he decided otherwise and I’m perfectly fine with it. I respect his decision," Betty said.
