Governor William Kabogo has been dealt a major blow after President Uhuru Kenyatta urged residents in Kiambu County to vote only for Jubilee candidates.
Speaking in Kiambu town on Sunday during meet-the-people tour, Kenyatta pushed for Six piece voting in the region which is crucial for his re-election bid.The Head of State said Jubilee candidates would give him a numerical advantage in parliament and would also work with candidates who were elected by the people.
"We did not interfere with the nominations. The people that Kiambu people decided on are the ones we should elect during the polls. "I did not bring them. It is you who chose them. I would want that you vote for the Jubilee candidates so that I have a team I can work with," the president affirmed.Kabogo was trounced by Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu in the Jubilee nominations to clinch the Jubilee ticket for Kiambu gubernatorial seat.After the nominations, Kabogo claimed that Jubilee nominations were interfered with and announced that he would vie as an independent candidate.
