Uhuru disappoints Kenyans in today's speech

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday avoided the raging debate on rising fuel prices, during his first public appearance since the introduction of the controversial Value Added Tax (VAT).

President Kenyatta attended the National Policing Conference at the Kenya School of Government, which he also launched.

In his speech, the head of state focused on far-reaching structural reforms in the National Police Service and kept off the fuel debate.

There had been public pressure on President Kenyatta to sign the Finance Bill, 2018 which further suspends the 16 per cent VAT on fuel for another two years.
