Sharon's family rejects Governor Obado's message

The family of slain Rongo University student Sharon Otieno on Thursday rejected a condolence message from Migori Governor Okoth Obado following her gruesome murder.

Sharon’s father Douglas Otieno stated that his family is seeking justice for their late daughter and nothing short.

“I don’t know about his condolence messages and I don’t even wish to know.

“If they were meant for you (media), just keep them to yourselves. I have nothing to do with them. He (Governor Obado) has never been my friend and has not been close to me so I don’t want to know about them (condolences)," Otieno told a local daily.

At a press conference in Nairobi on Wednesday, the Governor, who was elected in an ODM ticket, said that he had nothing to do with the brutal murder of Sharon.

“As a law abiding citizen, I want to state here very clearly that I have nothing and absolutely nothing to do with the cruel death of Sharon,” he affirmed.

Governor Obado also asked the media and politicians to stop interfering with information and let the investigators do their job.

He was accompanied by his family and wife, Helen Obado, who expressed their condolences towards the family of the slain student.

“On my behalf and on the behalf of my family, I want to send my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Sharon,” he said.
