KTN news Anchor and the official East African Correspondent for Deutsche Welle (DW) Joy Doreen Biira has exited the media industry after landing a lucrative job with the Ministry of Mining.
Ms Biira Joined the Standard Media Group in January 2012 as a news anchor and reporter with KTN.
Environmental assignments
Last year January, Ms Biira was picked as East African Reporter for Deutsche welle (DW) covering environmental issues and exciting solutions from Africa and Europe alongside their main host from Nigeria, Nneota Egbe.
She took over after Edith Kimani shifted gears and headed to Germany as a news anchor.
Despite this lucrative deal Joy Doreen Biira was still working with KTN.
Journalistic journey
The Ugandan journalist started her career as an intern and was later employed as a week day Morning Show co-host at NBS Television with Shawn Kimuli, broadcasting at the network’s headquarters in Kampala, Uganda.
In 2008 she relocated to Kenya to work as the weekend Breakfast Show at Capital FM.
Controversy
Recently Joy Doreen Biira was involved in a saga where her car was stolen by her colleague Aaron Ochieng at Standard Media Group under unclear circumstances.
But the case took a strange twist when Mr Ochieng confessed that the car’s disappearance was a planned theft. In his statement to the police, Mr Ochieng claimed that he and Biira had agreed to have the vehicle.
