I suffered from depression after giving birth - Marya opens up about motherhood

The 'Chokoza' singer has spoken candidly about the hurdles of motherhood.

Singer Marya recently confessed that she suffered from a critical form of clinical depression called post-partum depression that occurs during the first months after childbirth.

As her son celebrated one year, Marya confessed that depression was not the only hurdle she had to go through during and after childbirth.

She disclosed that during labour she couldn’t breathe and had to be rushed to a hospital. “I remember when I went into labour I could not breathe I was rushed to hospital as I was praying to God to be with us.”

After overcoming the first hurdle and bringing the baby into the world, Marya went through another hurdle of having a colic baby which is defined as uncontrollable crying from an otherwise healthy baby. The baby is inconsolable during his crying episodes and an episode can last for at least three hours.
