Huddah Monroe blasts Waiguru over minji minji title

Uhuru Kenyatta once referred to Waiguru as ‘minji-minji’ during a visit to Kirinyaga County.

An act that greatly amused Kirinyaga County residents who had nicknamed her minji-minji due to her yellow-yellow complexion, good looks and fresh ideas for Kirinyaga county.

Minji-minji means soft peas which are a popular delicacy in Kikuyu feasts and add the much-needed deliciousness to an otherwise flat stew of carrots and meat.

The nickname was pegged by Kirinyaga supporters who preferred Waiguru as their gubernatorial candidate over Martha Karua who they referred to as ndengu ndengu (green grams) which are tough to cook.

Speaking to Citizen TV Kirinyaga resident Peter Wambugu said “Minji minji is something soft and sweet but ndengu ndengu is tough and does not cook well. That is why we refer to Waiguru as Minji.”

However, Martha Karua had a different opinion altogether and said that Waiguru was over 50 and the voters would not be hoodwinked by her pseudo-youthful looks and tricks.

“The voters are wise. They know that Ms Waiguru is not young. She is over 50 years. Residents will, therefore, not elect leaders who are using tricks during campaigns. ” Martha Karua said as Nation reported.

Huddah Monroe also she thinks that Waiguru is not minji-minji, she is njahe (black beans)which like ndengu are also hard to cook and are not very tasty.

In fact, she also thinks that Chilobae is not even hot contrary to what Kenyan ladies think.

“Kwani in Kenya there are no men? Do Kenyan ladies think CHILOBA is hot? Coz to me he aint, it’s like saying Waiguru is minji when I see her as Njahe.” She revealed.
