Alton Lane Released Their First-Ever Line of Custom Shoes

You Can Now Customize the Perfect Dress Shoe
You Can Now Customize the Perfect Dress Shoe

Alton Lane , the bespoke menswear brand that 3D scans your body to create perfectly tailored clothing, is now applying that same spirit of customization for your feet. Now, you'll get the option to design your own pair of shoes from scratch for the perfect fit and the style you want. Not only do you get to pick out everything from the style, color (both interior and exterior), fabric, and stitching, but each style is crafted from high-quality Italian and Spanish leathers.

Alton Lane CEO and founder Colin Hunter tells MensHealth.com about the increase in demand for custom shoes over the past few years, and how they went about finding the right production partner to test the product. Not only did the timing have to be right, but everything about production and manufacturing had to be ready in order to deliver the final product to the customer in a timely manner (within 4 weeks).

"Were going from a raw piece of leather to a beautiful finished product in 23 days, so there is a tremendous amount of work going on behind the scenes to ensure everything goes smoothly with production and delivery," said Hunter. "We invest heavily in quality control to ensure the fit and design is exactly what the customer wants."

The initial offering includes 9 styles from casual styles such as moccasins, loafers, and chukka boots, to formal footwear options of dress oxfords and tuxedo shoes. "I would anticipate that the classic styles (oxford, derby, etc.) will do very well for the same reason that we sell a tremendous amount of classic navy and charcoal suits," noted Hunter. "With that said, were seeing a huge demand for Chelsea boots and suede chukka boots-shoes that can transition well across outfits, from jeans to suits."

Whichever style you prefer, having the option to design your own shoe to your liking is the perfect treat to upgrade your footwear repertoire.

Alton Lane's custom shoes (starting at $295) are available for purchase in all of Alton Lane's 13 retail locations across the U.S. now and online on January 31.
