Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday, December 27, graced the wedding ceremony of Fred Matiangi’s daughter in Nairobi.
Uhuru was the chief guest as Wendy Bochere Okongo and Franklin Kashindi tied the knot in a lavish ceremony that was also graced by a number of political heavyweights.

Uhuru's message to the couple
The former president ushered the couple into the next phase with a speech in which he wished them peace and joy, noting that marriage is a journey that needs love, trust and respect.
Marriage is a wonderful journey that needs love, trust, and respect from both partners. Wendy and Franklin, as you begin this new part of your lives, I hope your home is full of peace and joy, and may your relationship be an example for others.
Uhuru’s speech also touched on the institution of marriage as a key factor in promoting unity across communities.

High-profile guests
Mating’i who served as the Cabinet Secretary for Interior was joined by other notable personalities who served in retired president Uhuru Kenyatta’s government, including former ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru, and former Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, among others.
The event was also graced by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka with politician Sam Ongeri and Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo also present.
