This comes six days after a bus landed into a flooded ditch along Waiyaki way.

The accident claimed one life while other passengers were trapped in the vehicle.

The rescue operations took a while due to the difficulty posed by the flooded ditch.

Reports indicated that the bus was heading to town from Kikuyu and the driver lost control at Kangemi after it swerved off the road.

Devastating Tragedy

In August, four people lost their lives along the Sondu-Kisumu road after a matatu belonging to bestline Sacco veered off the road and landed into a ditch at Ngige Area.

Three men and one woman died on the spot after the matatu rolled several times.

A report by NTSA in October pointed out that lives lost through road accidents had drastically increased.

The stats were further echoed by Kenya Police Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru who noted that 2,345 people had died by October 3 this year.

The NTSA analysis highlighted that 2, 214 people had died on the road by September this year which was higher than the one for the same month in 2017 which was 2,053.
