The family of Githongo Law Courts Senior Magistrate Caroline Kemei is in anguish after the lifeless body of their 9-year-old daughter was found dumped in Gitoro Forest, Meru County.

Maribel Kapolon was reportedly kidnapped on September 6 while on her way home from school.

Kapolon, who had just been dropped by the school bus, was in the company of other children when an unidentified man called her to his car.

“A day before her kidnap, someone claimed to be her uncle. Another man then called her the following day and she ran towards him and we assume she knew him,” a police officer privy to the investigations was quoted by the Standard as saying.

After the abduction the police launched a search and the family also pleaded with the public to help them locate the 9-year-old.

On September 15, police officers located Maribel’s decomposed body in Gitoro Forest. The girl had one shoe and was still wearing her school uniform.

The body has since been moved to the morgue.
