The Personal Assistant to Migori Governor Okoth Obado has been arrested following a kidnapping incident that left Nation Media Group journalist Barrack Oduor nursing severe injuries.
Reports reaching Pulselive.co.ke indicate that Mr. Michael Oyamo was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.
Before Oduor was kidnapped alongside a student only identified as Sharon, he was scheduled to meet the Governor’s PA, who was to give him a tip-off on a corruption scandal.
Venue change
In a story by Daily Nation, Oyamo is said to have showed up late for the meeting and insisted on changing the venue of their meeting.
After driving for a few minutes they were stopped by unidentified men.
“We were ordered to switch off our phones and hand them over to one of the men in the vehicle. The abductors also took my wallet, staff ID and sh2000 that was in my pocket,” he told the Nation.
Violent
Oduor said he realized he was in danger when one of the men turned violent and started to strangle him repeatedly as they drove towards Kisumu.
At this moment the reporter knew he had to fight to stay alive. He kicked the door of the moving car and threw himself outside. He sustained serious injuries on his knees, palms the back and elbows.
He is currently admitted at a Kisumu hospital.
