The National Youth Services (NYS) landed the multimillion tender for supplying the
Inspector General Joseph Boinnet announced the partnership between the two institutions without revealing how much the police will pay for the work to be done.
IG Boinnet, however, noted that going with NYS had cut the cost of making the 60,000 uniforms required before December 12, 2018.
NYS director-general Matilda Sakwa signed the deal with IG Boinnet in October despite various suppliers who had been lobbying for the tender.

New Uniforms for Jamhuri Day
The police boss noted that the officers will be wearing the uniforms for the first time on Jamhuri Day when they will be officially commissioned by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
"They are burning the midnight oil to beat the deadline of distributing the uniforms to officers ahead of the launch on Jamhuri Day," an officer aware of the plans told The Standard.
The process of getting a new uniform for the police service begun in March after the president approved the idea.
Kenyatta later unveiled the uniforms on September 13 as he reshuffled top ranking officers within the police service.
Plans for the 2018 celebrations are yet to be officially unveiled by the government spokesman.
