Details have now emerged on the content direction Gideon Kibet alias Kibet Bull was planning to pursue before his family reported him missing in a suspected abduction.
In a media briefing on Thursday, Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah recounted his closed-door interaction with the Kasongo silhouette creator where Kibet Bull outlined his future plans.
Until he walked in here, I had not known he was the creator behind the Kasongo silhouette cartoons. He told me he is the one who does it and explained how he creates the stories.
That's the first time I was meeting him, I didn't even know he existed. I'd seen the cartoons but my footprint on social media is very light. Personally, I was thrilled that he walked in here and introduced himself.
According to Senator Omtatah, Kibet was intent on keeping up with his content creation and he had set out in a new direction that would incorporate more emerging political ideologies.
Specifically, Kibet had intended to develop content around Omtatah's push to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 presidential election. Kibet Bull was interested in the Senator's possible presidential bid and what his campaign strategy would be.
During our discussions, he wanted to understand my manifesto, or my agenda so that he could incorporate it in his cartoons. He promised that as he was going up for studies at the Tel Aviv university he would with his work. He had understood the purpose of my saying that I wanted to become the president of this country come 2027.
Kibet Bull was scheduled to travel to Israel
Senator Omtatah and Kibet's interaction took place on Tuesday at the Senator's offices just before he could not be reached by his family members on the phone.
The social media sensation had travelled from Nakuru to Nairobi ahead of his trip to Israel where he would be joining a university in Tel Aviv to further his studies.
Omtatah has reported that Kibet was being trailed by a Subaru with three occupants who parked across from his offices for the duration of their meeting and left as soon as Kibet also left for his brother's apartment in Kikuyu.
I strongly believe that Kibet was tracked and abducted by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations because, as soon as he arrived, my security informed me that they were monitoring a white Subaru, which was mounted with suspected spy communication gadgets used to intercept phone conversations
Kibet would disappear after leaving Omtatah's offices and is yet to resurface.
