Former Kilifi deputy governor Kenneth Kamto shot dead by unknown assailants at his residence in Nyali.

Mombasa County Commissioner Evans Achoki confirmed the incident on Wednesday morning.

Assailants Wore Masks

Kamto's wife Fauzia Kamto narrated to journalists in Mombasa how the gang of three waylaid her husband while he was returning home in the wee hours of the morning.

Mrs. Kamto stated that the assailants wore masks and mercilessly shot her husband after he asked her to ca'll security.

The former Kilifi DG's wife further stated that one of the gang members beat her with a slasher while demanding for money from her and the househelp.

According to her statement, the gang threatened to kill her as her husband laid in the floor bleeding while they ransacked the home to find money.

The gang took money and car keys from the home before locking the gate on their way out.

Finding Help

Mrs. Kamto stated that she left the house and jumped over the gate to get her husband help and by the time police arrived at the scene they informed her that her husband was dead.

Coastal leaders who arrived at the home in the morning called on the police to increase security in the region.

The leaders noted that there was an increase in insecurity in the region with many people being terrorized by known gangs.

The family of Kamto said they will inform the public of the burial plans as his children are studying in China.
